Would like to have the mail page open up when the browser does. No such capability seems to be available in the normal preferences. I have to press Ctrl-2 to bring up the mail page. No biggie; just a nuisance.

Is there something I can add to the user.js file to accomplish this? or another way?

    TIA,
    Bob

    Hi Bob,

In Preferences | Appearance, "When Mozilla Starts up open ", you can elect to have both Navigator and Mail open. ;)

Another way to go is to right click your Mozilla Desktop shortcut, select "Properties" and to the Target line add: one space and -Mail.
    "C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\mozilla\mozilla.exe" -Mail

    Hi Ramona,

Tried both of your suggestions. The first did nothing. The second brought up the mail page only had to manually bring up the navigator page.

I'm pretty sure earlier vers. would bring both up when I double-clicked on the desktop icon.

    Any other thoughts?

    Bob

    Bob,

The Preference I suggested works here. Right click on your Mozilla Desktop shortcut, and select properties. Delete anything you have added. Open Mozilla and disable the Appearance | Mail & Newsgroups. Close Mozilla, and then reopen. Now enable Appearance | Mail & Newsgroups. It didn't work for me either the first time, but after I deleted all the command line switches from the Desktop shortcut, then reset the Mail & Newsgroups, it started to work...

    Ramona,

Ok, that did it. I had -quiet on end to dish the splash image. Guess I'll have to learn to live with the splash displaying. I timed it both ways -- no savings in time by eliminating the splash.

Once again, many thanks for the quick and easy answer. I fished around everywhere but the -quiet thing.

    Bob,

Glad you got it working, but I don't get why you can't have the -quiet switch? That has to be a bug, and I'm going to check that out later on.

    Ramona,

Thanks. It does appear to be a bug. I'll keep playin with it in the meantime.

I did not have -quiet in Moz1.7.3, because I was afraid to mess something up, by entering it in the already full line. I tried, and succeeded. Of course, you need a keyboard space before the -. My Target is this way,
    "C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -p Moz1.7.1 -quiet
I did not change the profilename. It is legal.

    Westside,

Have you also enabled in Preferences | Appearance
    When Mozilla starts up open:
    Navigator
    Mail & Newsgroups?

I believe that it is default. Yes, both are checked.
I did not look at the entire thread, but, should I want to open only Mail, I would make a copy of the shortcut, but the Target would be
"C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozilla.exe" -p Moz1.7.1 -mail -quiet and it looks like Thunderbird does.

    Westside,

When Bob and I had the profile name, and quiet command line option added to the Desktop shortcut, and have Preferences set for Mozilla to open with Navigator and Mail & Newsgroups, only Navigator opens.

Once we removed the command line options then both Navigator, and Mail & Newsgroups open simultaneously.

    Go figure...
