I can't seem to be able to send mail that I've written offline. I tried "control T" to get/send all messages, but all that happens with that is that I receive incoming mail. I've clicked on Account Settings>Outgoing Server, and server shows up as it should... I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    rebecca,

In Thunderbird click on File | Offline | Offline settings

Check all your setting here, as this may very well be what is keeping the Mail that you compose offline from being sent. Select "Ask" and you will always get a prompt, and then you can be certain that the Mail has been sent.

Hmmm... when I click on file, I only get the following options:
    New
    Open saved message
    [Attachments]
    Close
    Save as
    Get new messages for
    [Send unsent messages]
    Subscribe
    [Rename folder]
    Compact folders
    Empty trash
    Page setup
    Print preview
    Print
    Exit

The ones in brackets are grayed out, so I can't choose them...

Okay, I just tried emailing myself something to be sent later, and now the "send unsent messages" option IS available to me - tried it and it works!
So thank you heartily for steering me in the right direction for my outgoing mail, but now, of course, I'm curious about those Offline Settings you mentioned... Can you tell me where else I might find those, given that they're not listed under "File "?
    Thanks for your help,
    Rebecca

    rebecca,

When you install Thunderbird, and select the "Custom" install, there is an option for working Offline.
    See these Screen Shots.

You can install Thunderbird over itself, this time electing to do a Custom install. Select the Offline component, and the settings shown in the second screen shot will be added.
