RPCSS.EXE error on bootup

    hey all,

    on Windows 98 i performed an adaware scan and cancelled a scan when i had rebooted my pc, since then i've been getting RPCSS.EXE runtime errors when restarting my pc

    what can i do to get around this?

    if there is anything i need to type in the DOS prompt please instruct me what to type exactly (i'm not familiar with DOS)

    Rpcss.Exe is Remote Procedure Call (the legitimate file) and it is unusual to see it on a 98 machine. In any case, Win98 has no use for it. Go to the following link and get Dcombobulator, and use it to disable it.

    Just a footnote here, unlikely as it may be, RPCSS.EXE which is part and parcel with DCOM services is employed with Windows Media Player 9 for servers that want to use push techologies over a TCP/IP network.
    Also, it did ship with Win98 se in the Win98_cab46...
