quick question. Should the CPU fan run all the time or is it senor controlled? I thought the fan should run constantly when the PC is power up. Need quick response, please.

Thanks.. I thought so, but wanted to make sure. Sometimes when I turn on the power the fan doesn't run so I immediately power down to avoid damaging the CPU. This is a new fan. The old fan does the same thing. It looks like I may have a power problem????

Make sure the CPU fan is plugged directly into the mainboard and not into a molex (hard drive) power connector.

Fan is plugged into the mobo. I used the same connection that the old fan was plugged into. During my switch out of the cpu's I forgot about the lever holding the chip in place and I forced the old cpu out of the socket thinking it was stuck, duh. After I pop the chip out I saw the lever when I was trying to put the new chip back in the socket. I can understand that the socket may be damaged, but I don't know why that would affect the running of the fans.. I may purchase a new motherboard if i can find one that will match the one I have or will handled everything I got.
