    Hi.
I am having issues with Word 97 on a Win98 machine.
When it is started from the start menu it always displays a box saying 'word cannot find the file xxxx.doc and gives you an option to browse or cancel.
If you leave it long enough it finds the most likely file - which is the correct one and you click ok but next time you open word you get the same message.
same if you browse for the file manually, but if you hit the cancel button it then proceeds to open and display the correct file anyway!
I have deleted normal.dot but this has made no difference.

Any other things I can try?
    Many thanks

    Spotta

    Hi spotta

Have you tried (re)-setting the folder location after you are in WORD?
You can find this setting on top tool bar, click on the following ...
Tools ~ Options ~ File Location (tab)
Your view should now show two columns contain in box. On the left side header see "File Types ", under that header look for the word Document and click once, highlight. Now go to the bottom of the box and click on Modify, which bring ups the Modify location view. Find the Folder that contains your WORD .doc files and click / highlight, "OK" twice and close WORD. Try opening WORD .. hopefully it will open with no errors.
