Hello, I am having a slow startup. It seems to load halfway and rest for a minute or so and then finish the process. I am sure it is something the beast is looking for, something that it cannot find. I use WinXP on a 2.6 processor/512 Ram and two 60gig sata hard drives. Zone Alarm firewall and Norton AV are installed and load with the first batch of programs.

I have ran Adaware and Spybot, Defraged and cleaned house, ie, deleted cookies, temporary internet files and cleared history.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to locate the problem?

Might first want to go through and reset your services according to Black Viper's recommendations.

Thanks much Dave. I did not remember but I had this problem a year or so ago. The fix was the same this time. Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) was Set for automatic startup. I changed it to manual. Problem solved.

Another thing I learned this time is don't use msconfig to change Component Services configuration with XP. I used it to isolate the problem the last time I had it.

Again, Thanks much for pointing me in the right direction.

    :)
