I installed something called XP-lite and after messing with it I'm unable to find the .wav that is used to make the clicking sound when "clicking" on a link.

I did a Restore but 'sounds and audio devices' still doesn't seem to work correctly and says it can't find different .wav's.

Anyone know the title of the 'clicking' .wav? If it's still on my computer I can put it in the Media folder and then access it.

Also, maybe it would be better if I could get the 'Sounds and Audio devices' to go back the way it was before the xp-lite install. I've already uninstalled it.

    Thanks in advance...

Do a search for Windows XP Balloon.wav and see if that's what you want.

    Can't find balloon.wav on computer...also tried C:\WINDOWS\Media\wavefile.wav

It's not in the Media folder.

I got rid of balloon tips via a tweak...maybe that took away the balloon wave.

    Thanks anyway

Be sure you are seaching for it using the FULL file name:

    Windows XP balloon.wav

    Include the spaces and all.

If you still can't find it, you can extract a new copy from your i386 folder either on your hard drive or on the XP install CD, whichever way your system is set up. It's called xpballn.wa_ there. Use msconfig to extract it for you.

How about "windows xp stat .wav" This is the click sound I use as it makes more of a clicking sound then the balloon wav which, to me, makes a popping sound.

OK - After restarting my computer today, the .wav files magically reappeared in the drop down box in 'Sounds.'

Thanks to all for the help...

I like magic! I hope it lasts forever. Thanks for posting back your success.

BTW, goddez1 did you mean "Windows XP Start.wav?"

Now where did that r go? Yes, I meant start.wav. I guess it's time to trim my finger nails. It's hard to type using the correct pressure on the darn keys or avoid catching a surrounding key. You can't rely on spell checker when the darn word is not misspelled. :)
