I have Windows XP and IE pretty much tamed down to MY liking and I am getting bored and need something new to mess ( fight ) with.

I have also learned to use System Restore to MY advantage. ( that was not easy )

What new browser would you suggest ? And how do I download same.

I am running XP Pro with SP2 .Could I put lets' say Firefox, Mozilla or whatever on the D: drive ? C: drive is a bit lacking for room. Or at least it will be if I add too much more to it.

I all ready know that my own site works in Firefox ( I believe you said it did ).

    Hi BillyBob,

Mozilla Firefox 0.10.1, or Mozilla 1.7.3 would both be great browsers. Note that Firefox is a standalone browser, no Mail.

Mozilla Thunderbird is a standalone Mail Client, but somewhat differerent from the Mozilla Mail & Newsgroups component. Toolbars can be customized, the program is small, and very fast. Thunderbird compliments Firefox quite nicely.

Mozilla is a suite, however you can opt out of Mail, if you use the Full Installer.

    Mozilla 1.7.3 Download
    Mozilla Firefox 0.10.1Download
    Mozilla Thunderbird 0.8 Download

Another option for these browsers, is that you can opt to use the Zipfile, which only requires unzipping the program to the folder of your choice. When you're ready to upgrade, simply delete the entire folder, no uninstall necessary.

I just started using Firefox, and Thunderbird, as my default browser and Mail client, and am pleased with both. They are both under development, but seem quite stable so far.

    Thank you Ramona.

What do you think of these wild ideas ?

Download all three and put them on a CDRW. ( or burn them to a CD ) But the CDRW is better because they can be removed and replaced if desired.

Use System Restore properly and have a go at all three. ( one at a time of course ) :)

    I LIKE that idea.

It may not be today as today is quite busy with stuff more important than the PC. ( like making sure my Wife gets to here Doctors apps. ) But I will let you know how I make out. Good or Bad.
