    I'm running Mozilla Firebird 0.7
I was playing around with the cookie settings and set them to Enable and ask before accepting.

While logging into my Yahoo email account the box popped up asking me if I wanted to accept the cookie.
I accidentally hit deny instead of accept.
Now Yahoo lets me login but I can't access my mailbox. It kicks me out and complains about my cookie settings.

It looks like once you've denied a site, it's a permanent thing.
I've got 9 Yahoo cookies in my stored cookies but apparently that's not enough to satisfy the beast.

Is there a way to undo the damage I've done.

    thanks

    sir gerald,

When you access Tools | Options | Privacy | Cookies
Is there an "Exceptions" Tab? If so, you can add Yahoo to your exceptions list. I am using Firefox 1.0PR, and have never used 0.7, so not sure if the settings are exactly the same.

    HTH,

    Ramona

I have tried a couple of times to do to be be informed about cookies. I gave up, because I would never get anything done, and the information given by the prospective cookie is beyond my understanding. But, if all fails, I would delete all the yahoo items, from Options|Privacy|Cookies|View Files, or at least anything about its mail. Close your program, and open it again.
I accept all cookies, and delete them later. I think that it takes less time, and it is less distracting.

Ramona, I put the Yahoo site in my exceptions list but it didn't solve the problem. There must be something very specific about that particular Yahoo cookie ... the one which recognizes me for my email account.

Mozilla seems to give you only one choice on whether or not to accept a cookie, and if you refuse it, you're locked into your choice.
I'm getting around it by using Netscape whenevr I want to check my email.

Westside, so far nothing I've done has worked. It's only this one cookie that's causing me problems.
I turned the option off to "ask before accepting" and like you, I go in and regularly clean out the junk.

    thanks for the advice

    sir gerald,

You do need to update to Firefox 0.10.1, not only for the enhancements, but due to some critical security issues that have been addressed in the new version. See this thread: http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=35822

I saw this on another Forum, and perhaps this will help you:
Let us know if this helps,

Tried it but it didn't work.

    Here's what I think happened.
While deleting some cookies, I had the box checked Don't allow sites that set removed cookies to set future cookies. (accidentally)

I also checked the option - ask before accepting. Then accidentally refused the cookie when asked.

These are the kind of mistakes that can happen when you're messing with your browser settings at 3:00 in the morning.

Some combination of deleting the Yahoo email cookie and refusing to accept the new cookie has Mozilla convinced that I do not want to accept or store that particular cookie.

There appear to be at least two cookies involved here.
One to recognize you when you login, and another one to actually access your mailbox.
I can login ... it's not until I click the Read Mail link that Yahoo kicks me out to a second and different login screen.

It would be interesting to know what the mechanics are here, but for now I'm just working around it ... until I switch make the switch from Firebird to Firefox.
I have an older vesion of Firefox (0.9) which I didn't like. It had a few annoying idiosynchracies.
I plan on switching to the latest version later this week.

Regardless ... I'd love to figure out why Mozilla and Yahoo are at odds over this one single cookie.

Check to see if yahoo.com is in the list of sites at <Edit><Preferences...><Privacy & Security><Cookies><Cookie Manager><Cookie Sites> and remove it. (Assuming Firefox is the same as Mozilla 1.7.1 in this regard)
