    Hi all,
I have a very strange problem in my home radio LAN. On one of the clients (a laptop) I have to wait a couple of minutes before IE opens a web page, but just the first time after IE has been started. All subsequent URLs are rapidly opened just as they should be. Any ideas out there about the cause of this annoying behaviour of IE (v 6.0 on W2K SP 4)?

    Hello there,

Read the status bar in Internet Explorer. Does it say 'Detecting proxy settings...'? This is a problem I had a while back.

    Doesn't say anything about proxy

Nope, it says nothing about proxy. The status bar says "Ready" during the wait period.

    hello again,
sorry, my knowledge generally is fairly limited.

Is this done with internet connection sharing? As its the first URL that fails, does any other URL work while you're waiting?

The laptop is one of the "endnodes" in my radio LAN and there is no other machine in the LAN that experiences any abnormal internet traffic delay.
