Basically I want to create and restore a bootable image of my C:Winxp drive using Drive Image 2002 and burning it to disk.

    Current config:
    C:\Winxp(fat32)
    D:\Win98se(fat32)

I have no problem with imaging and restoring the D:Win98 drive from within C:Winxp because there are no open files/directories in use.

The problem is If I try to create an image of the C drive from either within C: or D: it'll reboot into dos and hang at the "loading please wait.." Drive Image splash screen.

The same thing happens with tryin to boot from the rescue disks.
And it doesn't matter if the rescue disks were made in winxp or 98se
they both hang at the "loading please wait.." screen.

Anyone have any clues to solving this?

Is Drive Image installed on both drives ? Although the formats are both
FATS32, I am sure you will get registry mix-ups if you try to run it
from a single installation on D: Try installing it on the C: drive in addition after
booting to XP and use the shortcuts to Drive Image per booted OS.
    regards

    Greetings.

As a computer tech i have to image many drives as part of the job. Driveimage 2002 is not Windows XP compatible and i couldnt make it work in XP properly. Even if your copy says it can on the box, it can't. I didnt try it again since, which was a year or so ago. We got a copy for free as a sample from the maker. I never used it after it failed to work with XP, as i primarily would need it for XP.

What i use is Norton's Ghost. It can be bought seperately or comes as an optional part of Nortons Systemworks. It is made by Symantec. It is a great suite of computer management and optimisation programs and includes Nortons Antivirus.
