I will be installing Win ME on a box which currently has XP home ed installed on a 20 GB scsi hd partioned into 4 FAT partitions C:-F: where the Windows dir is on C:\windows.

This machine is on my lan and I have data on F: I'd prefer to keep right there. The rest of the data can be erased.

So my question is, can I run format for partitions C:-E: and do a clean install of ME on C:, with the desired effect being that F: remains intact and networking when reestablished under ME continues to work nicely?

Should add that I'm experienced with W95/98/XP but haven't used ME before.

Your F: drive would be safe from your formatting drives C:-E:. It is one of the reasons I like partitions.
