Been using NAV 2004 for a long time never a problem.
    auto update always works fine.
Weird thing is when I go to check status on my Symantec works
under the virus definitions line it keeps saying "updating "
it has been doing this since the past 12 days even though auto update has been working as always and I even did a manual update of relavant itmes (only item I did not download is Norton redirector which i doubt has anything to do with this)
As always Symantec has ZIP in its knowledge base.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks :(

To make sure I'm clear (I DID read both your posts and I'm guessing alboy read the first one and just wasn't real clear on what you meant either), I gather that where you expect a date entry for the most recent def file you are instead seeing the word updating instead.

If that is the case, you may have a corrupted virus ref file and not really be protected. That's only a guess though.

Why don't you want their Redirector? Sounds like it should provide some extra protection.

?????????????? Something does not look right.

Unless it refers to the Program itself I do not believe there is anyway Norton would go 4 MONTHS without an update of some sort.

I do not use Norton so I may be just guessing. But the last update of 6/10/2004 just does not seem right.

BillyBob here in the UK the tradition with dates is day/month/year, in your format it would be 10/6/2004 i think ?

Automatic updates of NAV are always several days (if not longer) behind. I go straight to the horse's mouth and get a new set of virus definitions almost daily.
    http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html
You can do the same by manually starting a Live Update.
Right now it shows yesterday's update, but I would be almost sure there will be one for today later this afternoon.
Of course you have to run the .exe files manually once downloaded from the above site, so it is a little more work.

You may want to run LU (Live Update) and let Symantec sort itself out. I have noticed that when Norton needs an update that requires a reboot, it waits until you run LU manually. I am only guessing, but with SP2 out now, and the changes that have had to be made to accommodate it, you want that redirector update, and you may need to reboot once you get it. In any case, it might be a cheap "fix ". Let us know if running LU corrects the "updating" status.
