I am having the hardest time removing some folders on my Win2k3 server. These folders were coppied over from a 2000 server that wasnt able to remove them either. Is there a way to force a deletion of a folder if you are administrator?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You should be logged on the Administrator to delete folders, if they don't delete, a program may be using them and causeing them not to delete. if you really need to delete the folders, boot in safe mode and then try.

    My 2 Cents

Donnie - try 'taking ownership' of the problem folders while logged on with an admin account and see if you can delete them after that.

As pontiaclover noted, safe mode is more likely to allow the deletion.

If not, booting from the CD to the recovery console will allow use of the rd (remove directory) command but unfortunately, only for system folders so depending on what they are, you may or may not be able to get rid of things that way.

If the file system is FAT32 you should be able to boot from a floppy (like you would use with Win9x/ME) and get rid of things from there.

Otherwise, post back with details. And please post back even if things go well.
