I am using XP Pro, with SP2 installed, and the Windows Firewall de-activated.

    I have 2 PC's Networked - #1 & #2, and they each connect to the 'Net' via a Router.

Both use the same Login Name and Password, with identical 'Permissions'.

They can both 'See' the other's Shared Folders, and I can 'Ping' in both directions.

Using PC #1, I can transfer Files ^from^ #2, but I cannot transfer Files ^to^ #2 and vice versa. (I get an 'Access Denied' error)

Would anyone happen to have any suggestions as to WHY this is so, and how I can correct it.

    Many Thanks.

Interesting. Either PC will allow a file to be copied (pulled) from the other but neither will allow a file to written (push) from the other.

Do you have 'Simple File Sharing' turned on?

This does look like a permissions problem. Check the share permissions to ensure you have at least read and write permissions enabled. However, also check the file/folder permission (on the Permissions tab rather than the share tab of the folder properties) have both read and write enabled.

I managed to get my problem solved, but unfortunately still don't know what caused it.

I had very little installed on the last PC I purchased, so, on a hunch, I started from scratch and re-formatted then installed the O/S. Just in case one of the few programs which were on it previously were what was causing the problem, and with my limited knowledge I do not even have the slightest idea if this is indeed possible, I set up the Network again, before I added anything else, and, to my surprise, it worked.

Many Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
