At this point, I plan to try a clean install of 98se "over" former 95x.

I see by some of the past posts that one can FORMAT the hard drive or use FDISK; or, if I have it right, the former, then the latter.

Is that corrrect? What is best process to use?

What is the difference and how do I make sure the FAT32 will be incorporated?

How do I save the drivers? New OS negates them anyway?

BTW, I also have downloaded the below per post:

"CDBOOT3 is an all-new, enhanced version of the freeware CDBoot utility for creating a boot disk with real-mode DOS CD-ROM driver support. CDBoot is now designed to create the "ultimate Aptiva boot disk" for either performing a clean install of Windows 9x on an IBM Aptiva PC or for troubleshooting and repairing problems. "

Will I be able to use this to do what it describes?

    Thanks,

    Hive,

If you are working with an Aptiva, here is an excellent page on upgrading to Win98. I have used the "clean install" method numerous times with a problem.

    Hope that helps!

Moore and Mike: Thanks! Appreciate your help.

The "Doc" stuff is outstanding as is the Aptiva site. I am not using Aptiva machine, but application seem appropriate.

I figure I will just go ahead and Clean the disk and go from there. All of you people have been very helpful. I know in six months I will have forgotten all this stuff and be off on another problem, as I do not do this stuff everyday, but I do record it all. I am grateful.

Now, it is off to find some Lake Michigan salmon and steelhead for a couple days, then maybe up to Wisconsin's Bois Brule for same...will take laptop to play in evenings. Gracias!

    Hive,

You're welcome and catch lots of fish. It's been awhile since I've had salmon, so if you catch extra, send one this way!
