Im looking for some suggestions on where i could look to figure out where my login delays are occuring.

When a user that is "new" to the system, pc has to build the profile, it takes roughly 5 mins to get past the "Loading Personal Settings" stage. We've checked out dns and our gpo's but cant find anything that is causing the problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreceated.

Oh we are running XP Pro SP1, in a 2003 Domain, with all the clients frozen using Faronics Deep Freeze.

    Thanks.

The client DNS setting has to be pointed to the server instead of the Gateway. It will change the logon to less than 5 seconds.

    Handy Jim,

Can you clear something up for me? Are you concerned that it takes so long for a new user to log on the first time, or does the problem persist over subsequent logons by that users. If the former, it is usual for the initial log on to take a while as the system has to generate a new profile, copy accross a new registry file, and configure IE.
