Hi Guys, I am running Win98SE and I cannot stop my computer from installing two default monitors.
My monitor is a SyncMaster 753s and if I use the CD to install the drivers for this monitor it installs them on one of the defaults, and the other one remains.
If I delete the default it is put back at the next reboot.
If I delete both monitors it will put back two defaults on reboot?????

G'day aussiejohn (it's raining in Sydney, hope it's raining where you are)

Your video card probably has the capability of running two monitors. If you go to Display in Control Panel (Settings tab) you will probably see two monitors depicted as numbers 1 and 2. Left-click on the pictures and it will tell you what drivers are being used underneath, eg. Syncmaster 753 on XXXXX adapter. To disable the secondary screen right-click on number 2 and uncheck enable. You can change the drivers by right-clicking the screen -> Properties and going to the Monitor tab.

As long as your primary screen has the correct drivers, don't worry too much about a default monitor showing up in Device Manager. It is probably due to the dual capabilities of your video adapter.

    Matt
PS Maybe a tip, check under Advanced -> Colour Management tab, you should be able to get a "colour scheme" for your screen (maybe off the drivers CD, or at the Syncmaster website). Search for .icm or .icc files. May enhance the look a little.
