I have physically removed my Modem and NIC from the computer. Now I have an unknown device in Device Manager under Other devices. How do I find out what it is?

Delete it and reboot to see if it comes back.

I did and I get the same thing. It searches and can't find anything then askes me to tell it what the hardware is.

I had one of those boogers on mine once.

I finally figured out that it was something from my mother board. I opened the "other device" and reinstalled by directing it to my MOBO disk.

If I remember right it was a RAID IDE controller even though I don't use Raid on anything but flying bugs. :D

Raid on bugs! Cool! This is an old PC and the disk has been gone for years. Isn't there some utility out there that can xray a machine and come up with the components?

Everest is good about telling you a lot of info about your box.
