One of the domain controllers in our Windows 2000 network has failed and I would like to remove it from Active Directory, but it won't let me delete.

Does anyone know how to do this? I have tried moving it to another OU and changing the primary group but cannot do that either. I cannot demote the computer using the manage server roles applet as the array controller has failed and the machine cannot be restarted.

We dont want to repair it, it is too old for that and will be scrapped, but its replacement needs to have the same name.

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks

You can perform a metadata cleanup. See 216498
