I use Windows Me and have a niggle about my Explorer. I like folders and files to appear on the right hand screen in ‘View>Details’ including their 3 letter extensions and spent much time changing them on my new computer ensuring afterwards that I ticked “Remember each folder’s view settings” and unticked “Hide file extensions for known file types” under Tools>Folder Options>View tab. The reason for this is because one has all the information one needs about a file yet takes up less space, less scrolling, and easier to see and locate. In spite of this I find a whole host of them regress to ‘Large Icons’ every so often. Would you know of a quicker way to make all folders display in ‘View>Details’, preferably in one ‘fail swoop’ if that is possible?.

    Regards,
    Pat

    Hi Steve,
Today I got one of those blue pages. However pressing Enter returned me to Windows okay but only to find that every %#@$ 'View>Details' in all folders had regressed to 'Large Icons'. I came straight here to see if my question had been answered and glory be, you had kindly answered it. I did as you said and the good news is that all the Main folders like My Documents, Program Files, Windows etc were in 'Details View' but the bad news is that all their sub-folders were in 'Large Icon View' and the latter outnumber the former by 300:1. Any chance of pulling a few more rabbits out of the hat Steve?

    Kind regards,
    Pat

Found the answer I need through "Google" and it can be done in one 'fail swoop'. Do as I say in my first post up to the words...... Option>View tab. Now still under View tab, click the box near the top of the page containing the words "Like Current Folder ". That is it; having done that for any ONE folder you will find every folder in Explorer now has an identical View Setting.

Easy when you know HOW! Previously I had spent well over an hour changing all my folder View Settings 'one at a time' previous to the last mishap (see previous post) when every folder instantly reverted to the default View "Large Icons ". Thus finding the answer via "Google" today saved my sanity.

    Regards,
    Pat
