I am new to this forum, so I apologize in advance if this has been posted and answered to death.

I have Optimum online and have switched to netscape. My netscape email is xxxxxxxx@optonline.net.

I just added Netscape to my work PC so I can retreive my email. My problem is as follows:

I transferred all of my emails from my MSN account to my netscape account on my home PC.
I can not view them from my work PC.
I can also not view any emails I recently received on my home PC on my work PC.

How can I set up netscape on my work PC to view all my emails I have stored on my home PC account and all my recently received emails on my home account?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tony

If you want to read and manage the same emails from more than one PC you must abandon POP3 email and establish an IMAP account.

For an explanation of IMAP see

    http://www.imap.org/

    and

    http://www.fastmail.fm/docs/faqparts/ExternalMail.htm

(This last link gets to the heart of the matter quicker.)

I use www.fastmail.fm for IMAP mail, and they do have a free account to allow you to try it out, but Netscape mail is a proprietary IMAP mail which can only be accessed using the email client in Netscape (Mozilla will not access Netscape webmail)

If you are running Netscape on both PCs Netscape mail is a possibility - if not use Fastmail. Fastmail is the better service, but more technical.

In brief, with IMAP mail you can access and manage your mail from any PC and never get it muddled. The mail stays on the remote server and you can read or control it from any location.

It would be well worth reading round this subject starting with the links I have given. Netscape/Mozilla/Thunderbird are excellent IMAP clients.

    Welcome to the Forum, Raist3001!

    Raist3001,

I edited your email address, as it isn't unusual for spammers to harvest them from Technical Forums.
