My laptop only has one available, is there a connector of sorts that will allow more? I have an external and a burner that both connect that way and can't use both at the same time.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kittie Cat...

What your looking for is a USB 2.0 Hub. Most hubs come with 4 connectors. You plug a USB connector from the Hub into the USB on your Laptop which then gives you 4 USB port to plug hardware into. => http://www.google.com/search?q=USB 2.0 Hub. Most if not all Computer Stores sell them (not expensive)...stores like Staples, Best Buy, Office Depot, etc...

Note: If the item you are plugging in does not have an external power source then you will be using the Laptop Power Supply to power the Hardware.

    Hi Kent,

Okay, I will check out that google page and see what it is... thanks! And well, both of the drives (external & burner) have their own powersources, so that will be ok, right? :)

    Thanks!

The PCMCIA slot that Russ is talking about is ususally on the left-hand or right-hand of Laptop. A PCMCIA card is usually the size of a Credit Card but thicker. I went to the site that Russ added to his post and pulled the pic. If you look close you will see what I mean. You should have 2 slots available for you to add these PCMCIA cards to.

Did you get a manual with the Laptop? If so there may be info inside that tells you about these slots.

You should consider buying a USB hub that is self-powered, especially if you plan on connecting something like a hard drive or a DVD burner. Regardless of whether those external devices have their own power source or not.

Oh, okay, I see now. Its where my wireless card goes when I use it and yes, there are 2 slots there.... but I saw below that someone said to use an external for power reasons.... I don't really care, whatever works best and isn't going to cost me a fortune, this is a pain unplugging and plugging... LOL!!

    Thanks everyone!

I'm using a PCMCIA USB card with my notebook. The one I have has two ports. I have a pin drive and a DVD recorder running off of it. A power adapter came with the PCMCIA card. So far I have not needed to use the power adapter, just let the card use the power which it gets from the PCMCIA slot.
