    it didn't work. It now is 2 things.

    either the lsass.exe quits or svchost.exe goes to 100% CPU.

    I am going to install Sp4.

    Hmm. Both of those symptoms are directly from some relatively new viruses (past 6 months). Its caused by other machines that are infected 'tickling' your machine (not nessicarily that you are infected). Updating to the latest security patches from windowsupdate should have resolved it.

    At any rate, upgrade to sp4, rerun windowsupdate after you do and report back. If you are still having problems, please let us know.

    ok, now when i start up my computer. i get thew lsass.exe quits error.

    svchost.exe runs fine and if i keep my internet disconnected until i start up, then all runs fine.

    but i don't wanna have to keep disconnecting my network on startup. i only have 351 mb left on my hard drive so i cannot do to many more updates.

    i have a bigger drive but this is how irun my computer.

    Western Digtial 40 GB 7,200 RPM :: Windows XP SP2 Home Edition
    Maxtor Unknown 1.51 GB 5,200 :: Windows SP4 2000

    Which update can fix this?
