Although this applies to all flavours of Windows, I am posting it here because this is the flavour that I am using.

I find it really strange that when you sort the Start Menu, or even move any object around, it stops sorting itself automatically. Can anyone tell me how to get it to sort automatically again?

The same with the Favourites menu. However, different folders have different settings, because on my menu, some folders do sort themselves automatically until I do something to them!

There must be a Regkey I can edit or something.

    Have you tried this:

Start>>All Programs then right click on the menu and select "Sort by name" ?.

Thanks MahMud for the idea but what I was looking for is that the Start Menu sorts itself, like how it does on a fresh install of Windows.

Have you ran gpedit.msc. Maybe there is a setting in it?

Nope, there is no setting in that for sorting the order of the items on the Start Menu.

Keep the ideas coming, please. :)

If the start menu items are not alphabetical just right click and then click on [ sort by name]. This will also work in you favorites menu
