    Running W2K, downloaded Adobe Acrobat 6.0 in RAR format/ opened and extracted. Clicked the "setup.exe" (later clicked the *.MSI to see if it would work); received the "windows installer" window which flipped to the Adobe Acrobat Adobe... Wizard window, clicked next... taken to Adobe...Setup window, then Adobe...Intaller Information window which gave the following: 1325.d-2004-Aug04 is not a valid short file name.

    Checked the Event log and shows this as Event-11325 Type-MSIinstaller .. went to MS website/google/ask/etc. for Event 11325 could not find anything. Went to same places for Error 1325, found some things (which brought me to this site ... which gave advise to make sure the MSIinstaller was "started "--though advise was to have it "manual" I put it to "automatic ").

    No matter what I've done, I'm not able to update my Adobe Acrobat with the 6.0. Where I purchased Adobe, they are toying with me, I'd e-mailed them every step, how many times I'd downloaded the *.RAR file, etc. Their 1st e-mail asked what internet connection I used, the 2nd is to redownload the RAR file -- grrrr ...

    Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

    Open the event then click on the icon below the up/down arrows and paste the resuts in here.

    ++++++++++++++++++
    I've also looked into the WindowInstaller/InstallShield/AdobeInstallShield<-- very confusing to me ... memory.dmp<-- left it alone ... COM+ (I'm running W2sp4) ... it is driving me nuts as it could be just about anything; what is interesting is I get the WindowsInstaller, then InstallShield, then Adobe Acrobat Install Shield ... I've defragged my PC, virus checked it (again)...

    Thank you for responding.

    I had this problem too and found also the cause in my case: due to a new DVD-rewriter my driverletters were hussled around, just resetting these to the original values solved this error 1325.

    Let me know whether this is the case for you too, cause then we can help others with the same problem as I found quite a number of problems with this using google.

    (I registered to this BBS just for this reply, hope this helps you and others)

    Quantor - welcome to the forum. No idea if PattyJune is still waiting for an answer or not since we left her hanging so long but thanks for the information.
