How do you get the undelete button to work in OE 6.0.2? OS = XP. Occasionally I will inadvertantly click the delete button twice when viewing email. The undelete button is always greyed out.

    From OE's Help file:

    To delete a mail message
In the message list, select the message.

On the toolbar, click the Delete button.

    Notes
To restore a deleted message, open the Deleted Items folder, and then drag the message back to the Inbox or other folder.

  3. to hide this advert.

There's a problem with that. With a couple of thousand deleted messages and the fact that you don't really know which message you mistakenly deleted with the errant double click, how do you figure which message it is? I want to know how to get the undelete button to work. That would be much simpler!

    Thanks for your time.

So you want to undelete all these thousands of mails? How's that going to help?

From reading through the OE HELP FILES, the undelete function only works with IMAP server email. (hotmail type accounts)

You'll have to use the drag method I mentioned earlier.

Where is this "Undelete" button? I have always gone into the Deleted Items folder, right clicked on the message I wanted to restore to the Inbox (or other box) and then clicked on "Move to Folder ".
ebbourg--While I really have not paid that much attention, you might find the erroneously deleted message at the bottom or the top of the list in Deleted Files. In any event it may be too late to use this "Undelete" key if you have done some other work in IE and/or rebooted between the deletion and now.
None of my business, but why are you keeping "thousands" of Deleted emails? At some point IE will cease to function, literally.

Right click on the bar below "file, edit, view..." and you will see the option to include several new options.

If you sort your emails by date (received) you can probably narrow it down. When you highlight an email and then delete it, the next file just below it will become highlighted. So, when you accidently delete a message, take a look at the date of the one that's now highlighted and then go into the deleted items and find the ones that have a date the same or close to the one that was highlighted in the inbox.

To work around this problem (accidental double click) you can just right click on the message you want to delete and in the menu that pops up choose delete. This also saves having to scoot your cursor to the top to get to the delete button. Just right click and it's right there where your cursor is. You'd have to change your ways which can be hard to do when you've always been doing it a certain way but it would eliminate the problem.

Thank you for your suggestions. I belong to 128 yahoogroups, all of them extremely active, especially the computer groups. So far, today, I have read over 200 emails. See the problem? I usually use OL Y2K instead of OE (which I find slightly debasing. In OL that little gem of a button (undelete) actually works.

My OL needs a detect/repair and for the life of me, I can't find my CD. It's somewhere in this house! That explain my cavalier use of the delete X.

    Thanks again,
