My system is XP Home with OE6. I am having a problem(?) with the receipt of e-mails. Sometimes an e-mail will arrive with the title/from/to but not the complete message. The rest of the messsage appears in another e-mail. This e-mail will have an envelope icon with no Title/from/to shown. But the remainder of the e-mail is there with a "bunch" of gibberish for 2/3 pages.
Are there any ideas out there as to what is happening. Noone seems to know. I have sent copies of these e-mails to the senders, but haven't received any information back! Thanks, willieboye

To try the easiest things first:

    1. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>General tab, click the "Delete Files" button, in the dialog box that opens, check "Delete all offline content," click OK and OK again.

    If that doesn't fix things:

    2. Go to Start>Run, type (or copy and paste from here) "regsvr32 inetcomm.dll" (without the quotes), click OK.

Please post back with the results. :)

    Hi Miz,
Thanks for your reply. I tried no. 1. A great deal of files must have been removed as the computer was busy for quite some time. Now I will have to wait to see if it worked. I will let you know if the problem still exists.
Great information, which I haven't been able to find elsewhere. willieboye

    Hi MIZ,
Everything was going great, then the bottom fell out. Envelope Icons with no from, to etc. arrived with a vengence! Guess that I will have to just overlook this little inconvenience. Thank you for all our work!! willieboye

willieboye--Are your various OE folders (Inbox, Sent Messages, etc.) pretty large? You may want to delete some of the contents.
Then click OE File|Folder|Compact all folders.
Any positive results when you next get an email?
If this just started recently, have you run a System Restore?
What you describe in you last message could be a problem with virus or spyware. Do you run antivirus and spyware detector programs with updated virus definitions and reference files?

    OE/e-mail receipt

Welshjim, Thank you for your input. I do not purposefully keep full files in OE. I try to clear the files out on a weekly basis. I also thought "virus" when this happened (it has been going on for months!!) so immediately updated my virus definition and ran a virus scan. Clean computer. I also run SPYBOT D&D quite often and also have a "clean machine ". I don't remember if I mentioned before, but I have sent a few of these e-mail messages back to the senders. Of course that doesn't help either as they never answer. Fortunately, bottom line is that most of this material ( I think) isn't of great importance to me. (At least that is what I keep telling myself.) Thank You, willieboye

The Microsoft Knowledge Base article, Message Received from Outlook Express 5 May Contain Unrelated Characters looks like it addresses the problem you're having with blank messages/random, unrelation characters in the body of the message.

Also, found this suggested in another forum for the blank-message problem: Go to Start>Run, type "regsvr32 inetcomm.dll" (without the quotes), click OK. Can't hurt, might help.
