    Hi

Right Click on the taskbar and click on 'lock the taskbar'. then use the small dotted lines to resize.

    Lis,

You can alter the size of the icons if You unlock the taskbar, drag the quick launch area to get larger than its contents, right-click the free area within the quick lauch area and choose View > Small or Large Icons.

Followed instructions and Small was selected. Is there a procedure to make them smaller.Perhaps a change to the register? Thanks so much for your expertise.

Well Lis ...... :p ...... You must have 20/20 vision!

Choosing "large" increases the height of the Task Area to ~1½ times the height of the start button.
Choosing "small" brings it back to the height of the start button.

If it's the same on Your computer, I don't think there is much to do.

Lis--Are you satisfied with the size of all the rest of what you see on the screen? You can decrease the size of everything by increasing screen resolution. Right click on a blank spot on the Desktop|Properties|Settings tab if I remember.

Below is a method to change the desktop icons size. However, unable to decrease size of quick launch icons. Satisfied with appearance of the screen.

Click the Start Menu and choose Run.

In the dialog box, enter regedit.exe.

Click the + sign next to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder.

Click the + signs next to Control Panel and then Desktop.

    Open the WindowsMetric folder.

Look for a key labeled Shell Icon Size and right-click it.

Choose Modify and select a multiple of 8 for a size. 32 is the default so try 24 to make the icons smaller or 40 to make them bigger.

Exit the Registry and choose Save if you are asked to.

Restart the computer and the icons will have changed size.
