I just purchased the new Sims 2 game which requires Directx 9.0 version. I tried multiple times to download this from the cd given and even from the web. I still get an error when running the game: "Failed to find any Directx9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a Directx9.0c compatible graphics adapter & have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer." I even tried checking the version that's on my PC by hitting Start, Run and then typing "dxdiag" and OK. However, I just get another error stating: "Error: This is the Unicode version of DxDiag which only runs on Windows NT. Please use the non-unicode version of DxDiag on Windows 95 and Windows 98." I'm not sure what this means and can't figure out how to find out if the download for Directx 9.0c is completing properly. I have Windows ME and I don't get any errors when downloading the Directx 9.0.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's the basic question - your video card may not support DirectX 9.

Running dxdiag will also tell you the Directx version.

Start > run > type dxdiag > ok. The info is on the last line in the system tab.

charlesvar--I think Moon89 is telling us he has already done that and got some weird message. Another way is to find the dxdiag.exe file, right click on it|Properties|Version tab. When I do that I am told version 5.3.0.901.
    That is Version 9.0c.
