I am using Norton System Works 2004 on XP. Ever since I upgraded from 2003, my charts and stuff on my favorite program run noticeably slower even tho I have Excluded that whole directory from the NAV scan using the path name in the main exclusiion screen. When I disable NAV things work much better.

    1. Why does it slow down even tho I have excluded the whole %&#@$ directory?

    2. What, if anything, can I do to fix this, short of using a different AV?

    thanks,

    Hello robls99,

With every newer version of Norton, it gets bigger with ever greater resource use. I'm only running NAV2002 and have no wish for any more Norton processes, so can't tell you what to look for in the way of options to shut off. This site http://computercops.biz/forum82.html is the nearest to a Symantec forum I've found.

How old is your system and how much RAM?

    Regards - Charles

    Charles,

Thanks for the reply and the helpful link. I am running a 2yr old, 1.7mhz, 1G ram, XP. I know a lot of users are unhappy with NAV and I may have to consider a change.
