EaZ CD creator doesn't write music

Easy CD Creator3.5 writes on data CD-R or CD-RW any which way without problem.
Today I tried to record music, a *.wav file converted from *.mp3 format. It says .wav extension, and now it's ~ 10 times larger than the original *.mp3 file. I can play both on my Windows Media Player7.0 with no problem, but when I try to burn a CD-RW on PleXWriter8/4/32A with wizard or manually, the disk remains blank. Recording goes OK, the bar moves in both TEST and RECORD modes, the green indicator light blinks, but when I open the disk in My Computer, it shows 100% empty and no sound, of course.
    What is wrong?
    TIA

A quality *.wav file is always 10x larger than a quality *.mp3, that's why *.mp3 is the most abundant file format for internet music sharing. (*.wav roughly equals 10MB per minute, whereas a *.mp3 roughly equals 1MB per minute)

When trying to record music to play on a Home Stereo CD player, you most burn as a "Music CD" & almost as important "close" the CD when done recording. To my knowledge CD-R is the top choice for burning music.

If this still doesn't work, it may be a problem with the *.mp3 to *.wav conversion software. My suggestion would be to upgrade to atleast EZ CD Creator 4, which allows burning as Music *.mp3 files & also allows 80 minute CD

    Rob Schulte,
You are absolutely right: it is 3:14 min piece and it’s 3,044KB in .mp3 an33,449KB in .wav. I tried to write it on CD-RW and, since it was only 3:14, left the session open. The wizard did not stop me because of CD-RW, so I had no clue. I will try to record it on CD-R, but I still want to leave the session open, as 3:14 is only about 4% of my 74min CD-R.
I did burn it as a "Music CDâ€. How can I do a "close" session and still use the entire disk? If I can’t, my disks will function almost like old 78 rpm vinyls.

After you click on record, in the window that opens click on the advanced tab and choose the line that says "close session leave disk open ". The next time you record on the disk be sure to import the previous session. This may or may not work for you as some don't have very good luck with multi-session cds (I don't use them myself for this reason). Also, unless you have an audio cd player that supports multi-session cds it won't see all of the sessions on the cd. I believe it will only see the last session that you wrote to it. Either that or only the first. It's been a while since I've messed with it so I don't remember which way it is for sure. You should however be able to see all of the files on your computer however (if things work as they should). As for EZCD 3.5 and 80 minute cds, it will burn them with no trouble. I'm using 3.5 and use nothing but 80 minute cds. If you add more than 74 minutes to the cd you will get a warning message when you click on record that says something to the effect that there is not enough time on the disk for what you want to record. It will give you the option to cancel or continue. Just choose to continue and it will burn the cd just fine (as long as you don't exceed 80 minutes of course).

    How can I do that?
But, regardless, I already found the solution: I will accumulate enough files in My music to fill one disk (all 74 min) and then do it in one session.
Today I’ve heard the sound "stutter" when I played the CD-RW back. I then went to dl more music and it stuttered again. I have to time now to investigate; probably, there is something wrong with my Windows Media Player7.01.

To import the previous session click on file/cd layout properties. Click on the data settings tab and make sure the line that says "automatically import previous session" is checked.

What OS are you using and what CD-RW are you using? Did you check out Roxio's website for the compatibility check? It's at http://www.roxio.com/en/jhtml/cdrdatabase/database.jhtml. As you'll find, there are a number of incompatibilities with Easy CD creator (and there are updates on the site too... check out support.roxio.com).

The current version of Easy CD creator is 5.1b and it's well worth it to upgrade to it, I think....

    Galdor,
I could not get my sound files to 3.5 in orderly manner yet because it is very hard to download them with KaZaA: ~half of them are broken "“ they "stutter" -- (2sec of sound, then 2sec silence). In addition, I don’t know about it right away: when I highlight the file’s title, it starts to download right away. Some allow to be heard at the same time, some do not and I do not know what I am downloading till it completed.
What is ETA? Is it download time or music length time?
Finally, I do not think that incompatibility is an issue: as I said, my PleXWriter 8/4/32A came with CD Creator 3.5.

    CD CREATOR PROGRAMS

CD CREATOR 3 CAME WITH MY BURNER. IT WASN'T VERY GOOD AT ALL. I USED WINAMP TO TURN MY MP3S INTO WAV. THEN RECORDED THEM ONTO A CD. I LATER USED CD CREATOR 4 AND STARTED TO LOVE IT..............IT WAS EASY TO USE AND DID EVERYTHING FOR ME, MAKING CDS WAS SO EASY WITH NO HASSEL..............I THEN WENT TO A LARGER BURNER AND HAD TO USE CD CREATOR 5, (CD4 DIDNOT SUPPORT MY 24X BURNER)....I HAVE ALSO GROWN TO LOVE THAT PROGRAM.............I SUGGEST YOU TRY TO GET YOU A COPY OF CD CREATOR 4,THEN IT WILL BECOME HASSEL FREE AND YOU CAN MAKE SOME REALLY GOOD CDS............IT ALSO SUPPORTS YOUR SOUND CARD TO RECORD FROM TAPES...........OR OLD ALBUMS YOU MAY HAVE...........YOU CAN ALSO TURN YOUR WAV. TO MP3:D

I have no or little problem now with CD recording; I will install 4.2 version soon. What SW would you recommend instead of KaZaA?

When I used EZ CD creator, I had nothing but trouble with it. I now use Nero.

MusicMatch is also a nice program for burning Music CD's, but you have to register & pay the $19.00 fee for the key to unlock it for burning at speeds above real time.

**As for a files transfer program for MP3's, I use WinMx. It does ok & I've gotten good quality MP3's with it.

KaZaa has a lot of Spyware in it. You should rid yourself of it anyway. Un-install it & then go get AdAware to remove the spyware that it leaves behind.

I have found a new program called BLUBSTER for downloading mp3s. It works well with Win98 and reminds me of NAPSTER in the early days. It also has a player............very nice interface.......and allows you to see the other peoples mp3 to download. Not only can you chat in text but if you have a mic you can talk with the person. Its a very good program considering the ones out there. Its free and has no hidden software. It seems to have more users everytime i log on....................and lots of good music to grab. It connects really well and doesn't give errors like some of the others.
As for Kazaa.............They are coming out with Kazaa Lite, which has no addware.I haven't tried it yet so i can't say much about it.
Give Blubster a try and let me know how it does on your PC.

**Your computer will be used as an agent of some kind to transfer messages around (since there's no central server and all...), which takes a miniscule amount of bandwidth (less than 0.50Kb) even when you're not actively using it (and even when people aren't downloading from you).**

Whoa Here!!!! " THIS IS A RED FLAG PEOPLE "

I found that paragraph on the downlaod page where users were commenting about it. This sounds like Blubster will be using your computer for it's own purposes to me. I don't want that!

Also, You have to turn off your firewalls in order to use it, therefore opening up ports making them vulnerable to hackers, trackers, & anyone who wants to install **** on your computer, and making your computer available to Blubster for them to use your computer for their own purposes.

Also, there is no Un-Install for it. That right there tells me that I don't want it. That something is not right. If I can't un-install it, I don't want it. With no un-install available, they intend to make sure it stays on your computer.

This all sounds like it is designed to use your computer for their purposes, and you've invited them to do it by installing it. Sounds like a combination files transfer program & Trojan Horse to me.

If I feel the need to use Kaaza, I'm thinking of using a dedicated swap hard drive and swap it back when I'm through.

Thank you guys! I am afraid that I will try your gizmos in a few days. My PC refused to start up in Reg mode yesterday, only in Safe mode. Before spontaneously shuttind down in Reg mode, it flashed a line for about 0.1 sec which looked like "Error loading [mouse. vxd. ... "(?). Hitting Pause button did not help. I removed all drivers from Device Manager (in case there was a conflict) but it did not help. Finaly, I had to format drive C. Now I have to restore my programs.

    Deloris,
    I tried WinMX.
It did a good job searching, but so far it cannot DL anything: one file is busy(queueble), another is timed out(waiting for server response…), the third one is busy(queuable). Only their colors changed since this morning.

    How do you use it?

    yurka,

There are a lot of users on WinMx for one thing. When it tells you someone is busy (Queable), that means they are having the maximum amount of downloads that they have allowed, being downloaded from them at that time & you either have to wait for them to get unbusy or go find another one to try to download from.

Up at the top of the WinMx screen you will see right beside the transfer tab a tab for settings. You'll need to go into that & make a lot of choices & settings. Go into each of the categories listed under the settings tab & put in the values needed.

If you have songs to share, you have to tell it in the share settings what folder your songs are in & also what folder you want downloads to go to. Plus what types of files you have in those folders that you are willing to share. MP3 jpg gif bmp & so on. You have to list them under share settings but don't use coma's or periods between them. Just a space between each file name.

On your shared folders tab up toward the left of the main screen, you have to create pathways to the folders containing songs you want to allow dowbnloads of, so that WinMx can list them & others can find them.

When you do a search, you can search by artist or name of song. When you find a song you want, just right click on the name of the song & click on download. If you don't get a connection to that person, try another person. Most times, you'll get one before long. I have found that it's a matter of patience. LOL You can also browse a persons song folder on their hard drive by right clicking on the line they are on & click on browse.

If you are operating behind a firewall, it will limit the amount of people that can download from you, depending on your firewall settings. If they are also operating behind a firewall, it will depend on their firewall settings as to whether you can download from them or not.

I have managed to get a lot of downloads, and I "don't" turn my firewalls off either. Personally, I will never turn off my firewalls for any reason, not even for a song I'd like to have real bad.

Probably the reason it times out or doesn't finish connecting is because the other person is behind a firewall & because of their firewall settings, it is stopping the connection. You just have to keep trying on a song with different ones until you get a download started. I am behind two firewalls & most of the people that have tried downloads from me were sucessful.

As you are familiar with these types of programs, you are aware that some downloads go well & some don't. That depends on what type of system each of you is running. Dial up, DSL, Cable & so on, how far apart in actual mileage the two of you are, size of modem, each PC's CPU capabilities & so on. For instance you won't download as quickly from someone 3,000 milses away as you would someone just down the road. :) A dial up with a 56K modem in either direction, will not download for you as fast as Cable to Cable, DSL to DSL, or DSL to Cable.

That's about all I can think of right now. If you have any specific question, holler back.

    Deloris.

OK GUYS thanks... BLUBSTER WASN "T AS HARD TO UNINSTALL AS YOU SAID. Lets be honest..........anything you download off the net you are taking a risk of PC FAILURE................I use a program called ADDWARE to find all the spy **** in programs.....It works !
The only program that gave me TROUBLE was IMESH, and I learned the hard way the get ride of trash and the newdotnet
drivers it installed. Before I download a file i always check to see
if spyware comes with it. I search for it on ZDNET..........they always tell if it has spyware......its a good site to keep you informed.
If you really want MP3s and dont want the hassel with all those programs........Get Audio Catalyst..................Make your own mp3s
and exchange them with a friend.............I got most of mine that way. Thanks You for Telling Me!

    Medlockesbabe,

I didn't say it was nearly impossible to uninstall Blubster, and I am glad you were able to. I simply meant that they wanted to try to make sure it stayed on people's computers, by not including an uninstall.exe.

It would seem to me that people who don't provide an un-install.exe with their programs are counting on the person who downloaded it to not know how to un-install all of it, if they try to & Windows gives them an error message. That is what I really meant. I may not have been too clear on that, but that was what I was trying to say.

Windows accesses the uninstall of the program itself for uninstalling it, and when there isn't one, or it's corrupted, windows has to hunt for a way to uninstall it. Sometimes it finds a way, most times it don't. If it cannot find a way, then you have to manually delete all the files & registry entries pertaining to that program & that can get a bit harry, because you have to find all of them first, and when messing around in the registry, you have to be careful! Hopefully you find them all & don't delete some things you shouldn't.

Most people don't know how to do all of that & therefore, even if you delete the main folder, there are still files on the computer from it in the registry & system folder & who knows where else & probably the files they wanted to stay on it, in the first place, are still there nicely tucked away out of sight. Even when Windows uninstalls one, & you've deleted the main folder that usually gets left behind with files in it, still not all files are gone most of the time. There are usually some remaining in the registry & system folder, so you need proggies that will list these files for you if you don't know exactly what they are called. The best proggie is in Windows itself. System file checker is it. Learning to use it properly can save a lot of headaches later. It can be your best friend. However it don't list the files in the registry. Just the ones on the hard drive that a program installed, replaced, changed, or deleted on your computer.

I too use AdAware & have for about a year. A great program. Much needed in this day & time of so many wanting to snoop on everyone, but the way I understand it, spyware & Trojans are not the same thing. From what I understand, spyware is used to primarily snoop & track ones activities. I am not absolutely certain what all Trojans do, but from what I have read, they are much worse & ya don't want one on your putter.

Any time I read suspicious sounding stuff like I read about Blubster, I don't want to take the chance, & I tell others what I have read & they can make up their own minds.

That was & is just my take on the whole thing. Better safe than sorry, so the old saying goes. So anytime I read about something & what I read sounds suspect, I don't aquire it. :)
