I have a computer of COMPAQ/P4 with WinXP.
I want to add a monitor.
The model of the video card on the motherboard is:
    Intel (R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
On the machine there are PCI slots. The model of the PCI Video Card I bought is:
    NVIDIA GeForce2 MX100/200
After I installed the new card, the original motherboard card stops working. Now only the new card works.
    So my question is:
    1. What can be done to make the motherboard card and the new card work simultaneously?
    2. How can I tell if the card on the original motherboard is AGP or PCI?

    Thanks in advance.

This is probably by design - have you checked in the bios to see if it can be re-enabled with the PCI card installed?

Simplest way of using a dual monitor set up is with a card which supports dual monitors.

I Googled for your Intel onboard video with limited success re. specs. If the PC is fairly current it is almost certainly AGP. Everest may give you a clue under Display

Most likely your original motherboard video is not a slot card, but a chip that emulates AGP.

You have to set the video sequence in your BIOS to AGP, PCI if that is what you want. It's apparently set for PCI, AGP. It's like boot sequence for video.

Check this link as to how to get two monitors to work.

    Thanks Pete and Ray!

    Thanks, Pete and Ray!

Yor are right. My original motherboard video is not a slot card, but a chip that emulates AGP.

I've already achieved my goal by just adding one more PCI Video Card and discarding the original chip on the motherboard. :)
