    :) Hi everyone,

I'm new but also have a problem....I have been bombarded with pop up lately and i had the msn tool bar installed but still getting pop ups really bad...so i decided to try another one...well..went and installed this pop up stopper and as soon as i did when i went to open explorer...i have explorer6 ....got an error message saying explorer has caused an error and i don't remember which one it said...and will now close...so i think its the pop up stopper so i try to go to add/remove programs and i can't open the control panel..it says explorer has caused an error in PDF133C.DLL...ok..so now i go in thru disk washer and to uninstall...i got the pop up stopper uninstalled thru this....but maybe haven't gotten all of it...i can open explorer now but still can't get into my control panel or search or trash can...my documents...when i tried to do a search i got has caused an error in SHLWAP1.DLL...i have searched here in error messages in explorer and windows..i'm using windows me...i have searched microsoft and still have not found any solutions. I did post at one of my help groups and it was suggested that i try uninstalling my Acrobat Reader Program ....so i went and checked and there is 4 and 5 installed...i have to go thru disk washer and try to uninstall 5...it won't let me uninstall 5....4 is in my start up and there is an uninstall and when i tried it it says unable to locate installion log file...uninstall will not continue.and thats my story...lol..sorry its so long but am trying to give you all the information i can...i just don't know what the next step should be..so any help is appreciated.

    thanks bunches
    ann

Ann - BTW, welcome to the boards. I have Firefox but haven't used it enuf to be able to critique it. You might click on The Mozilla, Firefox, etc. board and ask your question(s) there and I imagine they can answer them with expertise.

Thanks for the welcome bob :) I just went over and posted. I need to ask another ? I want to delete the VM Virtual Machine ...the java...from widows but when i go to start... Run and Enter "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection java.inf,UnInstall" ..... I get that the file can't be found. Does that mean i don't have it. I thought you had to have java to view the web pages. I have seen some java folders somewhere...i'd have to go in and look again...can i just delete the folders...It's not in my add/Remove programs.

    thanks

Ann, I am as my experience describes. But if you want to delete/uninstall something you should go to start>settings>control panel>click on add/remove programs>look for java or whatever you might want to remove, the click on add/remove. Perhaps other more knowlegeable folks will chime in.

...ok...I think i'll pass on that java thing now ...I do not see anything that says java in the ADD/REMOVE ...but one more ?...when i started claening my puter of all the bugs and viruses....the directions i had were to go in and disable Systm Restore...well...mine was all ready disabled for some reason...i might have disabled it before i just don't remember....anyway...when i try now to turn it back on .....I uncheck the box....restart and when i get back up go in and look to see if its on and its still disabled...I've done this about 4 times now and it always stays disabled...any suggestions on how to get it to stay on?

    thanks
