IE always needs refreshing

    I'm using someone else's computer, and I've noticed that when I'm on a forum, once I post and click on a button that takes me back to the main page, I need to refresh the page before the new posts take effect. Or if I finish checking PMs and then post something, once I hit submit, it shows I still have a PM. If I refresh the page, it resets back to 0.
    Am I making any sense?
    I'd like to know if there's a way that I can fix this annoyance without disrupting anything else on the computer?

    Tools->Options->Gen Tab->Settings button->EVERY VISIT to the page
