Have a client using an apc 350va and is getting an error when starting up xp basically saying machine is not protected by the ups backup function. Has an ! point over the powerchute icon. Have done the normal troubleshooting things including removing all usb and then rebooting letting xp reinstall them. One usb says it is UNKNOWN.

APC says they have seen this where for some reason the hidclass drivers are not installed. They told me to locate hidclass.sys, hidparse.sys, usb.sys and hid.dll and install them. Have looked at M.S. web site but having a problem finding these drivers and instructions on how to install them.

Was hoping someone out there has seen this problem and knows how to fix.

Thanks a head of time for your assistance.

I ran into that with my UPS when I let XP just use its' own drivers. Either use the CD or go to the APC site and download their software. It's much more flexible and powerful than XP's.
