    Hi,

I'm wondering if there has been any Windows Updates in the past month or so. Ever since Windows Update told me that I could download Service Pack 2, I haven't gotten anymore update messages.

I went to Windows Update on Microsoft's website and it told me that the only thing I need to download is SP2, which I won't do until I hear that it is good and ready.

Basically, I'm just worried that I missed critical updates.

Mods, if this has been covered elsewhere, feel free to delete.

Rest assured that you have not missed out on any Windowws updates - there have been none that I am aware of since SP 2 was released, I receive the MS Security Bulletin which notifies me of avilable critical updates and the only ones which have been released relate to Office - if you are running a version of this check out Office Update

    Ehhh... don't think so:

Buffer Overrun in JPEG Processing (GDI+) Could Allow Code Execution (833987)

Applies to XP SP1... not to SP2.

SP2 is as ready as it is going to get... there may be patches for problems introduced by SP2, but that's about it.

You're right, of course :) , but surely that should be offered on Windows Update if SP 2 is not installed?

As I have Office 2003 installed I followed that link in the URL you posted and the advice to check Office Update - nothing was offered. That MS document, which I had been advised of through the Security Update email, is a tad erroneous. If you have XP SP 2 Office is covered - this is not the impression given.

The power went out at my place this morning, which meant that my computer was shut off involuntarily. Of course when I started it up, the Windows Update came up and sure it enough the only thing it gave me was the SP2 update.

How do I know if I need the Office 2003 update? To be honest, I've never heard of having to update that.

Thanks for the replies. You guys put my mind at ease.

Connect to the Office update URL I posted - it is similar to Windows Update and will scan your system looking at your Office installation and offer updates as appropriate.
