I have been sent by Microsoft 2 different
    Windows CDs. They are:

WINDOWS XP service pack 2 with
    advanced security technologies.

    WINDOWS SECURITY UPDATE CD
    February 2004.

I have 2 computers. One with XP Home,
and the other with Win 98.

What is the difference in these 2 CDs.
Should they both be installed on XP home
Do any problem with XP happen upon
    install?

Should either on these CDs be installed
in Win 98. Will any problems with Win 98
    happen on install.

I have never installed service pack 1
on XP Home. Is this needed?

    Thanks, Jerry

If you try & intall either of the updates in win98 an error message will most likely pop up saying "this update is not for this operating system, or similiar menu. The sp2 is the latest & should work fine on your HOME :) box

The Security Update CD contains all the patches, critical updates and service packs for XP, Me,2k, 98 up to Feb 2004 (actually Oct 2003).

Use this to update your 98 box.

Windows XP SP 2 CD contains all the patches, critical updates up to the present day - Service Pack 2. The service pack is cumulative - you do not need SP 1 installed to use it. For Home and Pro.

Use this to update your XP box.
