I am trying to do a clean install of Windows XP from an upgrade disk. I have ME installed on my computer but I only got a system restore disk with it, not the ME installation disk. When I boot the computer from the upgrade cd first it takes me to a screen giving me the option of continuing with the setup, attempt to repair XP or quit. I continue with setup and it takes me to the EULA, which I accept. Then it takes me to a screen saying that it did not detect a previous version of windows on my computer and prompts me to put the installation disk of a previous version of windows to prove my eligibility for the upgrade. Now I take that to mean that it scanned my hard drive for a previous version of windows and didn’t find it, but, as I said, I have Windows ME installed on my computer. So I was hoping that someone could tell me why it isn’t recognizing my ME installation on my hard drive and if there is anything I can dot to get it to recognize it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need an installation disk/cd. Do you perhaps have an old win98/98se disk/cd? If so when asked for previous prove of operating system simply point to the cdrom "search in these locations" :)
