This computer was originally a win95 now upgraded to win98. Old but still puttin.

Wondering about these programs that are in my control panel, any help would be appreciated. All these programs are on my computer and may be good, but I am trying to speed up ole' betsy and these are puzzling. And yes I have checked online for most of these but don't understand them or how they got here.

    Blue Squirrel Link Sync
    ChainCast Proxy
    Attune 2.6.0
    Learn2 Player
    Microsoft Intellipoint
    More Properties 2.03
    Spinner

Microsoft Intellipoint sounds like mouse software. I uninstalled mine because I don't need the whistles and bells.

The rest I don't recognize. Are they actually running programs, or do they just show up in Add/remove programs? (Do Ctrl-Alt-Del or look in System Information)

Have you tried starting each one up, or if it's running, shutting it down to see what happens?

    eemom,

Blue Squirrel LinkSync looks like a program used by a Palm device. Here is some information about it. If you don't have a Palm, I would uninstall it.

ChainCast Proxy is used for listening to radio stations online. Here is the info on that. If listening to radio stations online is not your thing, uninstall it.

Attune 2.6.0 is harder to pin down. I see references to it being some kind of adware or possibly a program by Sun Java.

Learn2 Player looks like some type of multimedia player. " Learn2 specializes in the training of Microsoft Office & Windows software, business skills, sales training, communication, writing techniques, Defensive Driving, Human Resource topics and much more. "

Microsoft Intellipoint. I agree with samson that it looks like a mouse program.

More Properties 2.03 looks like a program to help you change settings on your system. It's a optional program. Here is the info on that.

Spinner is a program for use by Netscape Radio.

Basically, from what I see, all these programs are optional. One thing that you can do is go into msconfig and see if these programs are listed there. If so, and they have a check mark in the box, uncheck the box and see if you have any problems or are having problems running a program that you use. If you decide you need it, just go back in and put the check mark back in. msconfig is accessed through the run command on your start button.

Not sure if that helps any. Post back if you have additional questions.

More Properties I used for years for basic system file changes.
I would delete it now as there have been no updates and there are better,
    similar apps around.
    regards

 I have Learn2 Player in the list of Add/Remove Programs in my Control Panel of WinXP SP2. I have no idea if it was always there? I do not want it if i do not need it, or if it got there by a spy or whatever.
Speaking of which, i had a Viewpoint Media Player show up, and i found it probably was put there by AOL or AIM. I just uninstalled it, as it is a spy.
So if Learn2 Player is same, i will uninstall it too. Maybe it is there and used for Microsoft Internet Training in Start/All Programs/Accessories?
