I received an email to-day from Virus Watcher <trytg@ig.com.br>. It invites me to download a spyware scanner, from Digital Security, "publisher verified by Microsoft Windows Verification Intermediate PCA" followed by the usual Microsoft warning.

Is this valid or a spoof?

I tried to go to the site and my computer warned me that it may be a spoof. I went no further.

Was this a spam email you got? Any reason they would make some offer to you? Ever been there before?

The whole thing is just too iffy for my taste.
    Edit:

Here is a good place to read first.

    spam, ignore it.

if you do go there, it will prob offer you a trial scanner, that detect spyware, but you will have to pay like $40 to get full version that actually removes spyware. Alot of these sites will actually include spyware within the download to guarentee you find some when you scan, pursuading you to buy it!

ps. now your email is on thier list, you'll get these emails all the time, suggest you get an email filter. if there is a link at the bottem of the email to [Stop email] or simular, dont be tempted, it will most likely just tell the sender your address is active and maybe add you to more lists!!
