Ok, I've had a lot of problems with my PC lately, so I've decided to format my PC and re-install everything from scratch. I have used the cmos jumper on the motherboard to clear any settings (as I think static might have caused it to no longer function).
Anyway, its now up and running, but theres a possibility that the bios might be corrupt, but I'm trying to remove any other possible problem before flashing my bios (of which I can't find a version that works - not even on the Jetway website.... anyone wants to help on that matter I have a V500DAP board).

Back to my point, when I run the WinXP disk it boots up and it has done 3 things so far (not all at the same time).

    1. It will look like its entering the setup, by clearing the screen of all booting information, and then it will say in the middle of the screen
    2. It will not have the previous message, but instead remain a black screen (left it for up to 10 minutes before, and no luck, it remained a black screen)

    3. It will get into the install, and start preparing for the setup, but freezes when it gets to "Preparing the Windows Exectuable ".

My HD isn't completely empty as I copied some files onto it as I had read somewhere that, that could be a problem (I have tried it empty as well).

    System:
    AMD AthlonXP 3000+
    512mb DDR400 or 512mb DDR266 TwinMos (I can use either)
    GeforceFX 5600XT 128mb
    Jetway V500DAP Motherboard
    80GiB Western Digital Hard Drive

I've tried all of those solutions I could, like disabling ACPI (except for the ones that require you a) to have an OS installed and b) to have programs that need uninstalling installed).

It didn't work, and also I tried the Microsoft 6 diskette install, which also froze during the middle of it. Tried it with both memory types, and I'm just about to try a partition on my HD and clean it completely.

That particular line (580) is a font (arielbi.ttf) and it may be corrupt on the install disk. What type of disk are you using for the install, full MS retail, OEM, or burned copy? Try another disk if you have access to one since it sounds like the problem lies in the install disk.

I've tried 2 copies, the origional and also a downloaded copy off the net. Both with the same errors.
Ontop of that I just tried with the Boot Diskettes and I recieved a Line 18160 error. I mean this was with 6 'brand new' floppies, formatted and made using the Program for making them from the Microsoft website. It can't be a storage problem error.

But just to make sure, I'm borrowing another XP disk off of someone tomorrow.

I'm also going to try and get a floppy of the bios where I bought my motherboard from, and flash it as to remove possibility of a corrupt bios.

The bios is probably ok. I'd not do that unless all else has been tried and failed and even then only if it was recommended for the problem.
