Hi, on my work pc, outlook will launch, but the second I try to use it an error pops up and says a address book error. My only thought was to install the IE6 setup which includes outlook but did'nt work. Where might I get the address book alone? Any ideas??
    Thanks ;)

I assume that You are discussing Outlook Express since that's the one integrated in Internet Explorer.

In Windows Explorer, do a search for *.wab and You'll find Your address book as "user name ".wab.
Double-click it and if it opens, it is not corrupted.

If it is corrupted, there should be a backup of the address book "user name ".wa~ in the same folder.
If there isn't a *.wa~ in that folder it has been misplaced and given a different name by the system (a bug that should be corrected by now through the latest OE update).
Do a search for "~" and when You find it, move it to the address book folder.

Rename "user name ".wab => "user name ".old

Rename "User name ".wa~ (or "~ ") => "user name ".wab

Open OE a few times to see if it works. If it does work, delete "user name ".old

    Well BG,
it not only appears to be corrupt, it appears to be missing totally which may be the maximum level of corruption.

I'm out of ideas and can only recommend a visit to the below sites in search for a solution:

    Hi BG,
    thanks for posting back!

I came to think of a possible cause which You already may have checked:

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Options > Programs and check that the "Contacts" are set to "Address book ".

Hi bobmc32, The Microsoft Knowledge Base says to make registry deletions. I'd rather not mess with the registry since this is a work pc. Thanks for your time.

I am not a very sharp puter operator Bimmer so I understand about the work computer. I did what the KB suggested and reinstalled OE and all was well after a long and tedious search for the solution to the problem. I can't offer more and sorry. Others? Maybe.
