How do I turn off system restore and then turn it back on in Windows 2000?
I’ve read that XP’s system configuration utility can be incorporated into Windows 2000, and with it I can turn off and restore system restore.
I downloaded "misconfig.exe" to my desktop, but what do I do next? Where should it be installed? Anything else I need to know?

    Win2k doesn't have a system restore function.

I found this in Windows 2000 Help under the title "Last Known Good Configuration." I found out where to put the msconfig file here,
http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/Msconfig.htm and successfully installed the System Configuration Utility on W2K. However, I have still not figured out if I can turn it on and off. I was trying to follow instructions for stopping a repeated message in AVG which said to turn off the system restore function and then reboot. I have two sets of
instructions; unfortunately neither works because I still don't have the tabs that the instructions tell me to click on.

edit note: fixed the broken link. Newt

Sorry, that URL doesn't seem to work. It did when I typed it in the
    Address Bar.
