My neighbor has a wireless network that he said I could use. The problem is the signal is sort of iffy. I have a laptop with a Broadcom 802.11b WALN wireless card. I was wondering if there is some sort of external antenna or something I can use on my end to increase my signal? Do you think a different card would help?
    Thanks in advance.

You could try putting one of these in the window closest to your neighbor's house.

Thank you for the reply, but am I wrong in thinking that this device is for the transmitting party to use or can it be used on the receiving PC also? I've seen that web page before but dismissed it as not for my purpose but I could probably be wrong. Another use for it for me is we do a fair amount of extended travel in a motorhome and many campgrounds now have Wi-Fi in their offices and welcome people to use it, but have to go to office to or near get a strong signal. I'm thinking this would allow me to get a strong signal right in my coach without having to schlep my laptop to the office. I hope I made my use definition clear.
    Thanks again all.

It repeats the signal in both directions.

In an optimum situation the repeater would be half way between both points.

You might want to look into one of those cannon antennas for the roof of your motorhome.
