    Hello,
    Got 2 98 machines, they use old profiles from better 98 machines when they logon to the network.

    The old machines ran in higher res, different colour, etc, and it causes a problem when a user logs on. We now only have 2 98 machines.

    The profiles are stored on the network in each users home directory for them, I know that part, but what files/folders is the 98 profile made up from? So I can remove them to start afresh?

    Hi quackbal...

    When I remove the "Profile" files from our users H: Drive (That's the drive letter we use in our Network for HOME drives) I remove the following folders and files from the H: Drive root...

    Application Data folder
    Cookies folder
    History folder
    User.dat file <= Main file

    The files and folders above get refreshed or recreated everytime a user logs onto or logs off the network.

    If you really want to start fresh you should also remove the users profile folder under C:\Windows\Profiles\username
