As I move through cyberspace with Firefox, I'm generally delighted with its stability and responsiveness. Nor has even one site refused it. However, it seems to have caught a cold. Every few minutes a time-out box appears on screen: "The operation timed out when attempting to contact view.atdmt.com "
Now, it's easy enough to open the site belonging to atdmt.com, a domain provider (I think). I have no use for it, never heard of it before now, and don't know if there is even a connection between it and view.atdmt. A file search reveals many instances of view.atdmt.com within Firefox' array of files, but of course I don't know which is responsible for the "operation ". Another of my computers running Firefox fifty miles from here has the same problem. My copy of Internet Explorer does not seem to be plagued with this intruder, which is becoming very annoying. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
you may want to check a case posted at the Adaware forum.
    http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=16380

I did a search, and ran into a link from atdmt.com, and, guess what? A page to sign up for MSN came up. atdmt is one of those miserable ad outfits, which may make browsing almost impossible.
Do you have any Anti-Spyware software loaded? If not, I love Spyware Blaster which protects all your browsers, and you can see if it does the job.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ It is free. But, also, go to your Tools|Options|Privacy|Cookies|stored Cookies. Delete anything with atdtm.
I don't have any in Firefox, and had one in NS7.2, but nothing bothers me.

Thanks, W. I have Cyberscrub, Adaware and Spybot. A thorough scouring with all these did not help; I'll try your suggestion of course, but cookies get thrown out every day except for my subscriptions. **** it's managed to insinuate itself into Firefox such that even these premier cleaners can't get it. And what's the point of simply trying to raise a site that's no longer there?

Sorry. I meant why would admdt (or whatever it is) initiate continual attempts to raise view.admdt.com when the site is nonexistent?

view.atdmt.com does exist (I've just tried it in FF). It's probably that a page tried to get an ad while the server was bogged down with a lot of traffic (and it timed you out to add a bit of control).
