My printer keeps beeping and the refresh button keeps on blinking. The printer is a HP 610 model if that helps. I've looked inside and there's no paper jam or anything although the refresh button makes it seems like there is a paper jam. I looked inside and each time I open it the ink try keeps sticking to the left instead of to the right like it should. Any suggestions?

Suggest you uninstall (delete) the printer through Printers and Faxes (XP) - similar location 98, uninstall any printer software through Add/Remove Programs and reinstall.

If this fails to cure the problem then there may be a problem with the printer itself. With some printers there is the option to reset the printer - equivalent to a reboot of a PC. If there is nothing in the manual I suggest you visit the HP web site.

    Hi LazyBOy,

When you say "HP 610 ", do you mean HP DeskJet 610 or is it a different model, as there are many HP 610's on the HP website.

Sorry to get back with the reply but yes when I say Hp 610 I do mean the Deskjet. Ill try the uninstall program and see if that helps but now my printer makes this loud noise when the ink tray is resetting itself before it turns completely off. Any suggestions on that part? I made sure the ink cartridges were sitting in right and it continues to make this loud plastic grinding plastic noise.

Try a smear of oil on the rod on which the print carriage runs.
