Or Home - I'll quote Arie's words from the article I posted ....

"Slipstreaming a Service Pack, is the process to integrate the Service Pack into the installation so that with every new installation the Operating System and Service Pack are installed at the same time "

You can only download SP 2

    You have two options ....

Update your install of XP through Windows Updates

If you take this route only those files that you need will be downloaded and will be applied directly to your system. If you found it necessary at some time in the future to format your hard drive and reinstall XP you would need to visit Windows Update to apply all the patches issued since your install CD was manufactured and that would include SP 2.

Or download the full executable file for SP 2

This is 266 Mb and should be saved to a folder on your hard drive and not to the desktop. You can run this file on any installation of XP, burn it to CD, pass on to friends, etc. You can slipstream it with an XP install CD to make a bootable XP installation CD fully updated to the day SP 2 was released.

SP2 connection status icon says "limited or no connectivity "

I will also post this to the suggested page that lists experiences.

Before I talked with SBC DSL tech support I only had 1 connection icon with an error message. I don't know what SBC tech support did, but now....

When I connect using DSL XP Home Dell Inspiron 8200, there are 2 connection icons in my systray. One is working and the other has a yellow triangle with a black exclmation mark on it.

Clicking on the yellow triangle icon shows the Local Area Connection Status box. The status says limited or no connectivity. Right clicking shows a box with disable, status, repair, change windows firewall settings, and open network connections.

I tried to repair, and the message was that it could not be repaired because it could not find the renewing IP address.

SBC tech support acted like it was not a big deal to have 2 connection icons and that I should not worry about it.

However, I do think it is a concern....

    any ideas?

Received the CD from Microsoft today. Cleaned and used defrag, made a backup and a system restore point.

The SP2 Disk indicated maybe a installation of hours. This one finished in 28 minutes. Left all my programs on, Norton AV, Zone Alarm, Spyware Blaster, etc. When it rebooted there were some questions to answer about the Firewall and Anti Virus. Did that and nothing has changed for the worse. Everything that worked still does. The Pop Up Stopper works better than Google's Blocker as Google let some things Pop "under" that this one kills. It's regrettable that all are not sharing the good luck that I had.

    SP2 and Outlook Express

I have had no operating system problems, just annoying changes to Outlook and IE security. (My computer is also totally free of virus and spyware.) I understand that some who have not kept their computers clear of spy/scum/malware and viruses have been having all kinds of problems with the upgrade.

However.....I have Outlook Express 6 and when I click on a link within the email a totally blank explorer page comes up - nothing in the address line, nothing on the page. I have changed the settings so html and graphics are not blocked, internet zone is selected and I have allowed opening of attachments. Changed IE settings and nothing seems to make a difference.

To view anything that has a link, I have to right click, copy shortcut and then paste into explorer. I subscribe to Webshots but when I click on the picture, I get the same blank page - problem here is that I cannot even get the shortcut to go to the page. grrrrr

    Any suggestions????
    Have a great day
