I just ran Spysweeper and it picks of traces of Alexa Toolbar - as two registry entries.

I can not see the toolbar and can't find any related files.

I have My Search Bar. Although considered spyware, I like it and choose to keep it.

    I know SP2 includesthe pop-up stopper.

Is it possible this is what Spysweeper is picking up?

    I don't want to delete my SP2 pop-up blocker.

    Hello zanetti,

With every MS update, the Alexa reference returns and is not malware (think it used to be) so ignore, it is a search page entry into the registry and is harmless.

The popup blocker is a newly added feature to IE6. More info on it if you cruise the SP2 section, lots of references to MS articles on SP2 - IE included, and I posted a thread on the IE's popup blocker as well.

One more point, go into the Security section. There you will find a pinned thread on security applications. Lookup spysweeper. We here on this Board recommend and use primarily Ad-Aware and SpyBot, both free and recognized as superior to all others.

    Regards - Chales

    Alexa

I assume it's o.k. to allow Spysweeper to delete the entries so I don't have to deal with those entries everytime I run the program.

    Spybot didn't catch it.

    Thank you.

    Sure.

    Nothing to catch.
